
About Dr Luke Beattie

The power of the English language has always fascinated me, driving me on through my education to a PhD in Early Modern English textual and performance history. I worked extensively as an educator in higher education for many years, including several as a department head; along the way I presented conference papers and published a few articles and reviews.

However, my passion was always for the practical over the theoretical, as language's appeal to me is as a elegant tool (or sometimes a brutal weapon). I gravitated towards teaching acting students how to use language (verbal and otherwise) to affect their fellow actors and their audiences, and have had a career as an actor myself.

I quit my academic post in 2021 so that I could coach individual clients who were truly hungry for it. Since then, I have helped a great many aspiring actors gain entry to acting conservatoire courses, but something else interesting quickly emerged: ambitious professionals began reaching out to me for private coaching in various aspects of communicating for maximum impact. I have confidentially helped some very interesting individuals to develop their expressive and persuasive powers. I have a feeling it's just getting started...
